Australian Fire Authorities Council Conference Awards Ceremony

The ACC will be performing at the Australian Fire Authorities Council Conference and have the prestigious role of opening their Conference and Awards Ceremony where they will perform a selection of Australian works with an environmental and inspirational theme.

CAROLS IN THE CATHEDRAL
WITH THE ROYAL MELBOURNE PHILHARMONIC AND MELBOURNE UNIVERSITY CHORAL SOCIETY
St Paul’s Cathedral (Cnr. Swanston & Flinders Streets, opposite Fed Square)

Each year, the The ACC perform in these magnificent concerts of traditional Christmas music and readings in historic St Paul’s Cathedral, presented by the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic. Featuring over 200 voices of the acclaimed RMP Choir, Melbourne University Choral Society, and The ACC, the concerts are accompanied by a spectacular Consort of RMP Brass and Percussion, outstanding pianists Amir Farid and Stefan Casssomenos, as well as guest soloists. Conducted by Andrew Wailes. These concerts sell out early so early booking is advised.

CONCERT TOUR OF CHINA
The ACC will perform a series of a dozen or so concerts with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Andrew Wailes in a number of China’s most prestigious concert venues. Further details to be advised.

A CONCERT TO CELEBRATE PAUL BARCLAY’S LIFE

Faye Dumont Singers, in association with The Australian Children’s Choir presented a special concert to celebrate the life of Paul Barclay as a musician and friend. Money raised from the concert will go towards an in-perpetuity scholarship for young singers. The goal is $30,000 invested with scholarships awarded from the interest. For Australians donations are tax deducible if passed through the Faye Dumont Singers Charitable Donations Trust. OPENING CONCERT OF THE GEELONG SACRED MUSIC FESTIVAL
The Basilica of St Mary and the Angels

The ACC performed the opening concert of the Geelong Sacred Music Festival in the magnificent surrounds of St Mary’s Basilica, Geelong as a part of the “Music in the Basilica” Series. The choir presented a one hour program of contrasting sacred works, by composers including Felix Mendelssohn, W.A. Mozart, Pablo Casals, John Rutter, Howard Goodall, Thomas Luis de Victoria, Sandra Milliken, Phillip Stopford and Randall Stroope. The ACC will be accompanied by Amir Farid (piano and organ), conducted by Andrew Wailes.

The ACC was invited to attend the Mountview Uniting Church Open Day and to perform a short bracket of songs during the afternoon as part of Parish celebrations of community. Saturday 8 December, 2012 at 5pm ACC PRESENTATION CONCERT Wesley Uniting Church (Lonsdale Street, Melbourne)

 

The ACC presented its anual Presentation Concert in the magnificent setting of Melbourne’s historic Wesley Church. As well as performances by all five ACC Choirs, the concert also included the presentation of service awards to ACC choristers, and traditional Christmas music including some carols for the audience to sing along in! The evening was accompanied by the wonderful ACC staff accompanists Amir Farid, Sarah Denholm, and Michelle Humphries (piano), and special guest performers.

 

Saturday, 15 December, 2012 at BANYULE CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT Poulter Reserve, Greensborough (opposite Greensborough Station) The ACC was again invited by Banyule City Council to perform a leading role at their Christmas Carols in the Park. The Choir performed a selection of carols to lead the community singing and several feature items. This performance also featured the Diamond Valley Brass Band. Free event.

GRAND OPENING CEREMONY GALA DINNER for the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China launch in Melbourne
Regent Theatre Plaza Ballroom (191 Collins Street, Melbourne)

The ACC presented a twenty minute program of music in the magnificent setting of Melbourne’s Plaza ballroom for over 300 guests including the Premier of Victoria to celebrate the opening of the new Melbourne Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Accompanied by Zen Zeng. Conducted by Andrew Wailes.

REGIONAL TOUR WITH THE LEGENDS OF BRASS

On this weekend, the choir travelled to Beechworth and Wangaratta, performing concerts with the Legends of Brass and Box Hill Chorale in the magnificent Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre, as well as Wangaratta Cathedral.

Saturday night featured a “Last Night of the Proms” concert in Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre at 7.30pm, and on Sunday the choir participated in a special Festival Service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral at 10am , followed by a “Hymns of Praise” concert in the Cathedral at 2pm. Conducted by Andrew Wailes and Brian Davies. Accompanied by Amir Farid and Evan Cresswell.

THE ROYAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL GALA ‘THANKYOU’ DINNER
Medallion Club, Etihad Stadium

The choir performed at this prestigious charity event, raising funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital. The event was be attended by a number of VIPs, including leading political and philanthropic figures and was hosted by Network 7’s newsreader Jennifer Keyte. The choir’s performance included a special performance of “This Old Love” with ARIA award-winning celebrity recording artist LIOR.

“A DATE WITH THE STARS” CAMCARE CHARITY CONCERT
Genazanno College Performing Arts Centre, (Cotham Road, Kew)

The choir performed at this special charity concert, raising funds for Camcare. The event featured celebrity artists including sensational soprano Greta Bradman, internationally-acclaimed pianists Rebecca Chambers and Alan Kogosowski, virtuoso violinist Sally Cooper, and the award-winning Senior Stage Band of Blackburn High. Hosted by Tony Charlton. The Australian Children’s Choir performed a bracket of six songs. Conducted by Andrew Wailes, accompanied by Zen Zeng.

ACCORD CONCERT (FESTIVAL OF CHOIRS)

The ACC again hosted this festival of primary aged choirs, including local school ensembles and the training ensembles of several of Victoria’s leading Children’s Choirs, including the National Boys Choir of Australia, Southern Voices, Choir Victoria, Berwick Children’s Choir and of course The ACC’s own Junior Choirs, Intermediate and Reserve Choirs. Each choir performed individual items, before combining for a massed finale. The day also featured a Bookstall, Homemade Cakes, a Raffle, Sausage Sizzle, Devonshire Teas and much more!

LIBERAL PARTY OF AUSTRALIA’S OUTER EASTERN GALA DINNER The Grand on Cathies Lane, 90 Cathies Lane, Wantirna South

On the 23rdof August Alan Tudge (Federal Member of Aston) with Senator Mitch Fifield and Senator Helen Kroger hosted the Outer Eastern Gala Dinner with The Hon Tony Abbott, leader of the opposition as guest speaker. The ACC provided entertainment for the Guests with a selection of Australian Songs. Conducted by Andrew Wailes. Accompanied by Rhys Boak.

The ACC presented a fantastic concert in the fantastic setting of the One Community Church auditorium. Featuring performances by all the ACC training ensembles as well as the Australian Children’s Choir, highlights included several arrangements written especially for the choir.

CONCERT FOR THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN OF VICTORIA
Parliament House, Spring Street, Melbourne

The ACC performed a short recital inside the Legislative Council Chamber for the National Council of Women of Victoria’s “Young People Speak” Conference, as part of the “Celebrating 101 Years of International Women’s Day” events. Conducted by Andrew Wailes.

CONCERT FOR THE BALLARAT ORGANS OF THE GOLDFIELDS FESTIVAL
Her Majesty’s Theatre, 17 Lydiard Street South Ballarat

The ACC performed a one hour concert for this prestigious Festival to 500 people. The performance featured some of the repertoire the choir performed during its 2011 European Tour, as well as other music by Australian, English and American composers. The choir was accompanied by Amir Farid (piano) and conducted by Andrew Wailes.

The ACC performed two magnificent traditional Christmas concerts, presented by the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic. Featuring over 200 voices of the RMP Choir, Melbourne University Choral Society, and The ACC, the evening was accompanied by RMP Brass and Percussion, Amir Farid and Stefan Casssomenos (piano), Jonathan Bradley (organ), and guest soloists Greta Bradman (soprano), Roy Best (tenor), Jacinta Dennett (harp) and Roland Rocchiccioli, The Dean of the Cathedral and Julie Houghton (readers). Conducted by Andrew Wailes. Both concerts completely sold out. The second concert was filmed and will be released as a DVD in 2012.

The ACC presented a corporate pre-dinner performance for Bupa Health on a “winter wonderland” theme, conducted by Andrew Wailes.

The ACC presented a short live-to-air performance of traditional Christmas Carols for the 3MBS listeners, conducted by Andrew Wailes.
